063. Thomas Gates

Thomas GatesFrom http://thomasgates.com/blog/bio: Thomas was born in Texasin 1950 and grew up in the rural countryside not far from Dallas. He spent much of his childhood playing in the woods, observing the stars, the sky, the trees, the animals, the changing of seasons, and the effortless flow of nature’s way. As a result he quietly sensed that there must be one simple and powerful essence sustaining all this incredibly diverse creation.

Meditation
Then, shortly before his twenty-second birthday, Thomas learned a unique and simple meditation technique that quickly confirmed his sense of what had been occurring in nature all along. It enlivened the experience of that deep, underlying silence–the silence that permeates and sustains the whole field of existence.

Emergency
This peace and happiness lasted about one week when Thomas suddenly found himself being rushed to the hospital with a severe case of appendicitis. The doctors told him not to worry. It would just be a routine surgical procedure and that he would be home in three days. Little did he know that his life was about to be altered forever.

Thus began the prelude to an amazing journey that took him all the way through and beyond the “light” to the underlying, eternal source of our existence and all creation.

  1. Hi Rick–I really enjoyed the interview. It was fun and you made it easy to dig in and share more than I usually get to in other interviews. But of course, I don’t usually have 2 hour interviews!

    Thanks again,
    Thomas

  2. I see you have a somewhat reduced price (still high) for multiple sessions. Good for generating income. Why can’t people be healed with one session? Does God need multiple sessions to heal?

How can you really teach people this ability to heal when you received it as a gift that wasn’t taught to you?

I’m just very skeptical of the whole healing racket.

  3. Hi Will and thanks for visiting Buddha at the Gas Pump.

It’s actually not a bad thing to have a healthy amount of skepticism when investigating some things that might seem a bit out of our usual experience. I just leave it up to people to base their final conclusions on their direct experience, in terms of my work.

But I am commited to honor this gift and to continue to bring its benefits to as many as possible, skeptics or not – belief is not a requirement.

And if you go through and read some of the case histories and testimonials on my website, you will see that there are instances where major shifts in health and well-being happen in just one session, some even inexplicable by traditional doctors. You may get a clearer understanding of the nature of healing in the site that will possibly answer some of your other questions. Feel free to contact me directly from my website and I will be happy to answer any further questions, if you are interested.

Finally, I consider my self to be a healing facilitator rather than the healer, as I observe who is actually doing the healing. That is your job, from the inside out. I simply am able to enliven and accelerate, without manipulation, your body’s inherent healing processes. From that point, you are the one doing the healing from within your own consciousness/physiology–quite naturally. Not magic, uga buga, or even miracles. I like it that way…

  4. Thomas,

I’d like to thank you again for your generous healing session with my mother. The whole process from start to finish was so uplifting. The deep personal connection you made with my mother and myself allowed us to observe the naturalness and sweetness of your process. We really sensed how, by guiding the patient to reconnect with that deep inner joy and focusing that on the body, the healing process manifests. Regardless of the physical results, the spiritual deepening was apparent. It was just natural, then, when the original diagnosis of cancer was downgraded to “let’s just keep an eye on these things” after your session.

I think the core of your gift is that near-death experience you described so clearly in the interview. One senses the continuity of life when one speaks with you and this, alone, lifts great fear off of one’s shoulders. With that as a foundation, your healing attention can get to places in the psyche that would otherwise be restricted by fear.

We don’t know why life makes us the way we are, but we can be grateful for the unique roles we all play. My mother and I are deeply appreciative of your spontaneous gift, and of your bravery in sharing it with others.

I also appreciate Rick’s bravery and efforts in producing this video series, which is inspiring, informative and entertaining in the truest sense. He is helping to pour the cement on the new highways to freedom.

    Keep up the good work.

  5. Thank you, Erick, for your kind words. It was a great pleasure to share that time with you and your mother. You are both very clear of your spiritual natures and it is beautiful to see the deep connection and support you offer to each other in your journey of life.

I am happy to be able to share any gifts I may have in my life with others, as we are all inter-connected and inseparable. We all help one another in our paths to the recognition, remembrance, and acceptance of that Wholeness.

And yes–thanks to Rick for creating this great site! It is very timely as it makes it easy to see that there is truly an expanding awakening taking place everywhere.

  6. Hi Rick, Thomas,

I really enjoyed this interview. Great story, very well told. I was particularly interested to hear two things that correspond with my own experiences:

    1) The experience of angels as beings without faces.
    2) The appearance of Guru Dev.

I had a serious crisis in my life about 30 years ago. It’s a long story, but I’ll just say that is was extremely painful and frightening. At the worst part of this crisis, I called out for help and then dropped into a different plane of experience. There I was helped by a being of golden light, no wings and no face.

During another time in my life when, for other reasons, I slipped into a higher plane of experience, there was Guru Dev.

Thank you for sharing your story.

    All the best, BW
